Storytelling - The Ancient Art
Storytelling is by
far the oldest, simplest yet most skilful and revered form of education and
entertainment known to mankind. It has been universally enjoyed by adults
and children of every age and civilisation and even today has lost none of
its attraction and charm.
|
A lone storyteller,
usually without the aid of any props or costume, can create an atmosphere
of magic and mystery; horror or happiness; suspense or resolution; anticipation
and fulfilment. |
Alternatively, the contrasting styles and stories of two or more complementary raconteurs can produce entirely different and exciting effects in the right circumstances. |
|
|
Entertaining anywhere and at any time, storytelling is enhanced by picturesque, historic or dramatic surroundings or special seasons such as Halloween and Christmas. Nor is narrative necessarily confined to the original storyteller. Very often - and very soon - the listeners - young or old - catch the mood and make their own contributions. |
The number and variety of stories is infinite - one life is not long enough to tell them all. Chance Encounters has the ability to research people and events to provide new tales of local interest, relevant to your own situation.
