The Past is still Present!

We can never leave the past behind. All modern life is built on it and woven around it. Sometimes it is a physical presence in the form of historic sites, standing stones, buildings or artefacts - the last not only in museums! Just as often it lives on in traditions, customs, folklore and habits. Not a day passes without its influence on our life, even in the home.

And we usually don't know it! Why not? Why don't we see or recognise it? Simply because the present is the starting point for most of our thinking and we take everything else for granted.

But things have changed - the past is no longer prepared to be ignored! With increasing frequency, we are receiving visitors from earlier times who will not let us forget them - or their part in shaping our world. Now that the problem of time travel has been overcome (Without the aid of science!), there is no limit to the ages from which travellers are taking advantage of this facility. Warriors from the New Stone Age on one day can be followed on the next by arrivals from any period - right up to the 1970s!

Naturally they need a little help to understand and to be understood by modern mortals. Chance Encounters Heritage Interpretation Theatre Company regularly assists them in their appearances throughout Wales - and beyond. This co-operation ensures that these encounters are both enlightening and thoroughly enjoyable.

You will certainly recognise these characters! Their clothes, speech, mannerisms and customs are true to their origins. Reference to present day amenities and practices have no meaning to them - although they do not fall on deaf ears! These folk are very willing to learn and compare the vastly different lifestyles. These interactive exchanges are extremely lively and entertaining!
